I love teaching because 5th graders remind me that words can still change worlds: one page, one idea, one growing mind at a time.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to give back to the system that gave me so much. I had incredible teachers and the impact they had on me stands to this day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite memories has to be character day. My students all came dressed as different characters from A Series of Unfortunate Events and surprised me by creating and performing a play inspired by the series.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 for a down payment on a home to officially settle into the Northern Virginia area where I teach.
