Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I care about people more than content. English is about voice, identity, and learning how to think and communicate clearly. I see myself in students who feel unsure or overlooked, and I wanted to be the steady adult who shows up. Teaching challenges me, but it gives my work purpose helping students grow, feel seen, and find their voice.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was watching a student everyone had given up on walk across the graduation stage. He didn’t just earn a diploma—he proved to himself that he was capable, and I was honored to witness that growth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in my own stability while giving back in ways that matter. I’d save for the future and use part of it to support students and programs that need resources, because success means more when it’s shared.
