I love teaching because I get to inspire minds, build confidence, and watch students discover their greatness every day.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I wanted to be the adult who sees potential before a child sees it in themselves. Teaching allows me to close gaps, build confidence, and create safe spaces where students feel valued and capable. Every breakthrough, big or small, reminds me that this work matters far beyond the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was watching a struggling reader finally believe in themselves. After months of intervention, frustration, and small wins, they read a full passage aloud with confidence. The smile, the tears, and the proud “I did it!” reminded me why I teach. It wasn’t just about reading—it was about restoring confidence, building resilience, and changing the way they saw their own ability.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would expand high-impact literacy interventions, purchase culturally relevant classroom libraries, and integrate technology that personalizes learning. I would also fund family engagement workshops and provide enrichment experiences for students who may not otherwise have access. Every dollar would be used to close learning gaps, build confidence, and create equitable opportunities for all learners.
