Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a Pre-K teacher to create a space that feels like home—warm, safe, and welcoming for both children and their families. I believe learning starts with trust, so I focus on building strong, meaningful relationships with every child and parent. When children feel secure and loved, they grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments as a Pre-K teacher was with a nonverbal child in my classroom. Through patience, consistency, and care, we built a strong, trusting relationship. The first time they spoke, they looked at me and said, “Ms. Sherry, I love you.” My heart melted it’s a moment I’ll never forget. ❤️

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would use a portion to enhance my classroom providing more hands-on materials and resources to support my students’ growth and learning. Most importantly, I would use it to help my mom stay in her home by catching up on bills and easing that burden. Supporting my family while continuing to give my best to my students would mean everything to me.
