I love teaching student to love science and understand how scientific principles are connected to all areas of our lives.

I was told in high school that I would be a teacher. At the time I did not see what they saw. As I reflect back on my past, I can recall the many settings where I was clearly an educator. When my first career came to a stop, a friend suggested I become a substitute teacher. The rest is history. I began teaching math and transitioned over to science. I truly enjoy helping students learn and explore science and the many ways it can be found in the smallest details of life.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience occurred just before Covid began. My father had fallen ill, and it was a difficult time in my family. My students could tell. They were genuinely concerned and would ask me about him almost every day. One day after I received a phone call from my father's nurse, my students could tell I was sad. One of my students suddenly said, "I think you need a hug!" Before I knew it the entire class embraced me. Tears rolled down my cheeks.
What would you do with the $25,000?Winning the $25,000 would be a wonderful celebration of teaching choosing me. I would celebrate my students by planning that fun day of no-work. Followed by a relaxing spa day for myself, with my daughter. The rest would be waiting for the ultimate retirement vacation.
