Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education to change lives. I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful difference every day by helping children build confidence, discover their strengths, and develop a love for learning. Watching students grow—academically, socially, and emotionally—and knowing I played a role in that journey is incredibly rewarding. Teaching allows me to inspire curiosity, support each child’s unique needs, and create a safe, encouraging environment.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a student who struggled with reading at the beginning of the year finally gain confidence and independence. This student was often hesitant to read aloud and easily frustrated, but through consistent small-group instruction, encouragement, and celebrating even the smallest progress, something clicked. I still remember the day the student raised their hand and volunteered to read in front of the class for the first time. -proud moment.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, I would invest it directly back into my students and classroom. I would use the funds to expand high-quality instructional resources, hands-on learning materials, and diverse books that reflect my students’ backgrounds. A portion would support targeted interventions and enrichment activities to meet individual learning needs. I would also use some of the funds for professional development to strengthen my instructional practices. Every dollar helps.
