I love teaching because I get to turn small wins into big confidence and help every student feel seen, capable, and proud of who they are.
Thank you for supporting Sheena Jackson in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became a teacher because I believe every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable. Working with special and general education students, I strive to create inclusive spaces where kindness leads and confidence grows. Through Kindness Club and Special Olympics, I help turn small steps into big victories. Seeing students discover their strengths and take pride in who they are is why I teach.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most meaningful moments was seeing a student grow from a second-grade reading level to high school level, earn a scholarship, and be accepted into vocational college. Despite facing challenges at home, they persevered through hard work and support. When they hugged me and thanked me for helping them believe in a brighter future, it reminded me why I teach and the impact dedication and encouragement can make.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would invest it directly into my students and programs—expanding our Kindness Club initiatives, strengthening our Special Olympics program, and providing resources that support academic growth and career readiness. I would use the funds to create more inclusive opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, and real-world preparation so every student feels empowered to succeed.
