I love teaching because I inspire growth, build confidence, and help students discover their voices through literacy every day.

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in students lives and help them believe in their potential. Education opens doors, and I want to be someone who guides students as they learn, grow, and discover their voices. As a reading and language arts teacher, I enjoy helping students build strong literacy skills and confidence in expressing their ideas. Teaching allows me to create a supportive space where students feel encouraged, challenged, and inspired to succeed.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was a 6th grader who struggled with English. With consistent support, practice, and encouragement, they gained confidence, improved reading and writing, and began participating in class. By the end of the year, they scored advanced on county testing. Seeing their growth showed me the power of patience, persistence, and believing in every student’s potential.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would take my students on a trip. Many have never traveled due to poverty, and I want them to explore, learn outside the classroom, and create inspiring memories that broaden their world and spark curiosity.
