Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education has the power to change lives. I wanted to be a positive influence—someone who helps students discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize they can achieve anything they are willing to work hard for. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student’s face light up when something finally clicks. My goal is to make a difference not only academically, but by ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and inspired each and every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was watching a struggling first grader become a confident reader. He worked hard all year on academics and managing his emotions. After the New Year, he walked in saying, “New Year, New Me!” His minor behaviors faded, and he blossomed into an amazing reader. I couldn’t be prouder of his growth and accomplishments.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would invest in flexible seating to create a warm, inviting classroom where students feel comfortable and excited to learn. I would also purchase instructional materials to strengthen my curriculum and support student success. Additionally, I would attend another Kagan Academy to continue growing professionally and expanding my strategies for increasing student engagement.
