Shamonda Phillips

I love teaching because I get to support students as they grow, overcome challenges, & discover their strengths. Being part of that journey.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want to make a positive impact on students’ lives. I believe education can shape confidence, open opportunities, and inspire growth. Teaching allows me to support others, share my passion for learning, and help students reach their full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was when a student who had always struggled finally understood a concept we had been working on. I saw their face light up with confidence and pride, and in that moment, I realized the true impact of teaching—it’s not just about lessons, but about helping students believe in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would use part of it to support my students and classroom by buying resources and materials that enhance learning. I would also save a portion for my future and use some to take a meaningful trip or invest in personal growth. Overall, I would try to use it in a way that benefits both my students and myself.
