Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to support those who may not have support anywhere else. I want to make a change in the world of education and special education by breaking the mold and pushing my students to achieve incredible heights. I was able to support the students in the special education classroom when I was in high school and I wanted to continue that into my career.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was a couple months ago when during an afternoon of reading sight word flash cards to my students one of my non-verbal students finally after 2 months of reading the same words to them in different orders every day, started to read sight words! This student read 13 words, and I heard their voice for the first time! I will never forget how excited I was that after months of repetition and hard work this student finally started to read!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 I would be able to quit my second job and I would be able to move out of my apartment and buy my first house with my fiancé.
