Tell us why you became a teacher

From a young age, I enjoyed working with younger kids. I was a pretty good athlete, so I started assisting younger groups often. I really enjoyed teaching them knew things. I found a sensational feeling from the success of those I've helped to learn. I also had a deep passion for science, and I've always imagined being the wildly passionate science teacher that can "wow" his students with magical experiments.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I teach 7th and 8th grade, and sometimes it's tough getting this age to enjoy education to its fullest. My most memorable moments come from the kid who really struggled in my subject, and actually recognized the value of my recommendations, and begin to skyrocket! When that student thanks you and said they enjoyed it, it means a lot, and is super rewarding. These ones will be the relationships you'll never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

A portion of it would need to go to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Our kid, Hudson, who is now 2 years old, had a rough start after birth. They took such good care of him and us, and were able to revive him fully for us to bring him home. Another portion should go towards athletes who can't afford opportunities to improve. Some athletes are sadly held back by their family's financial stability, and only wish about the opportunities that others get.
