Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I’ve always had a heart for children and desire to make a difference. I wanted to be the kind of teacher that makes school feel safe, exciting and full of possibility I chose kindergarten because those early years matter so much. This is where the students learn how to read and how a problem self, how to be a friend and how to believe in themselves. I want to be a part of that foundation. I wanted it to be someone who helps build their confidence from the beginning.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching moment was my first year as a student teacher. It was such a special time because we were both on our own learning journey and path of discovery. I was learning how to become a teacher how to lead a classroom build relationships and find my voice. At the same time, my students were learning how to read, how to problem solve, and grow into themselves. We were figuring it out together.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I receive $25,000 I would first use it to create a meaningful experience with my son. As a teacher, you often become overwhelmed and swamped with work. There are a lot of late nights planning grading, responding to families and consistently thinking about your students. Sometimes without even realizing that you miss out on the family time in self-care. I will definitely take my son on a memorable trip something special we could unplug and make memories. With whatever is left go to my class.
