Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves someone who sees their potential before they see it themselves. I was drawn to special education because growth looks different for every student, and I love being the person who helps unlock confidence, independence, and joy in learning. Teaching isn’t just my career—it’s my calling to advocate, empower, and make sure every child feels valued and capable.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moment was when a student who struggled with communication independently read a full sentence aloud for the first time. The entire room paused, then erupted in cheers. Watching their face light up with pride reminded me that progress isn’t measured in giant leaps, but in brave, hard-earned steps. That moment captured why I teach—celebrating victories that change a child’s belief in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to create a more inclusive, engaging classroom environment—sensory tools, adaptive technology, flexible seating, and hands-on learning materials tailored to diverse needs. I would also build a small resource library for families to support learning at home. Every dollar would directly impact my students by removing barriers, increasing access, and giving them the tools they deserve to thrive.
