Sarah Castro

The thing I love most about teaching is being able to make a science topic fun to learn about and watching the students get excited for it.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always wanted to help kids. I originally went to college to become a child psychologist. Being in the classroom working alongside the students has been more beneficial and rewarding than I ever expected. I love experiencing in all their, “Aha, I get it now!” moments.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when my students adopted a senior citizen in town. They all brought in small gifts and helped each other wrap them up. Being able to watch my students truly enjoy giving back to their community was such a memorable experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 I would take my family on a long-awaited family vacation and help my incoming students buy all the needed school supplies.
