Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference. I was a child who struggled to read and write. It finally came down to a teacher noticing how I was writing and talking to my parents about getting my eyes checked. I was blessed to have some of the most amazing teachers that took a real interest in us as students and showed us how to achieve our goals. I decided that was exactly what I wanted to do; help children succeed and learn.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience came when I was mentoring a student teacher(ST) from a nearby college. The ST was being observed and evaluated by her professor. He was always dressed very dapper, suit and bow-tie. He was also an older gentleman. with glasses and not very much hair. During the ST final lesson, a "special" student gets up, crosses the room, and begins to rub the professors bald head and play with his bow-tie. Then she exclaims, "NO HAIR!" He and I both had to walk out.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would give $2500 to my church for youth programs. Then I would take my family on a vacation. The rest, I would donate to my school to revitalize the primary playground.
