I teach for the moment a child realizes, “I can.” That spark, that courage, that growth—that’s everything.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because I know what it feels like to feel unseen. I teach to interrupt the belief that struggle defines potential. School is where students decide who they are. I show up each day to make sure they see themselves as capable, valued, and powerful. Teaching is my way of turning doubt into confidence and classrooms into spaces where belief changes trajectories.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA student reading far below grade level once refused to participate because he believed he wasn’t smart. I met with him every morning to practice fluency and rebuild confidence. Weeks later, he volunteered to read aloud. His voice shook, but he didn’t stop. When he finished, the class applauded. That moment—watching him choose courage over fear reminded me why this work matters.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to expand my impact beyond my classroom launching a small-group literacy mentorship program for struggling readers and training other educators on building confidence-centered classrooms. A portion would support advanced professional learning so I can continue refining my craft. When teachers grow, students rise. This investment would multiply, not just support.
