Tell us why you became a teacher

Being a teacher was always my dream, ever since I was a little girl. Life delayed it, but it never extinguished it. Upon arriving in the United States, that dream finally became a reality. Today, I have the privilege of teaching my young students to love learning, believe in themselves, and develop their skills. Teaching is not just my profession; it is my way of leaving a mark on the lives of my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My first student with severe autism could not speak. I worked with patience, love, and unwavering faith in his potential. There were moments of silence, doubt, and perseverance, until one unforgettable day, his first word finally came. It was my name: Sandy. In that moment, every effort was rewarded. That single word reminded me that teaching is about believing before progress is visible, and that even the smallest breakthrough can change a life forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This would be an opportunity to better support my students through my calling.Although I work for a private school,I lovingly invest part of my salary in materials that support my students’ learning and well-being.This support would help me train in behavioral, speech, play,autism,parent-interaction therapies, and mindfulness,so I can better understand and guide my students with empathy. My greatest desire is to be a teacher who heals insecurities and helps every child feel capable and worthy.
