Teaching theatre allows me to engage my students in a not only education, but the human condition. We use arts & engineering to teach skills
Thank you for supporting Samuel Mosher in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became a teacher to make sure that students can access the arts in any way possible. Every student is not a "take notes & learn" kind of student. Students need multi-modal engagement to build the transferable skills needed to be a thriving human. Students need to learn and experience different time periods, confront different challenges, and develop the skills to conceptualize, create, problem solve, and communicate. I became a teacher because at that age, The Arts saved me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is not a specific day, but a person. My first year teaching, I had a passionate student. Over their educational career they were a voracious learner who supported the arts. This year, in August, I learned they were hired at our school to work in our Arts program. That legacy, coming back to teach the next generation, and getting to work alongside that legacy, that is memorable.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would reinvest it into my program and community by donating supplies & resources needed to better teach and expirience Theatre Arts. (Scripts, digital literacy aids, production equipment, funds meant to aid students with the cost of extra curricular field trips and college auditions.)
