Tell us why you became a teacher

I had a unique situation. Not only was my dad a teacher and a coach, but he ran an international summer camp. I literally grew up around kids from various ages and parts of the world from a young child to an adult who worked at the camp. I knew from an early age that I wanted to work with kids. Living and working at the camp taught me many valuable lessons.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I love making lessons come alive and try to tie concepts to hands on experiences. My most memorable teaching experience was ending our economics unit with students creating their own business and selling items in our flea market. The market was full of homemade items ranging from ornaments, to cookies, to scarves. The entire school and school families shopped. Students made items to sell. What would you do with the $25,000?

I would LOVE to create a legacy at our school and install a book vending machine to be used as a part of our PBIS AND install flexible seating in my classroom. I would also use it to create an incredible family memory with my two kids, husband, mom, and sister.
