I became a teacher because teaching is my gift. I was an engineer and one of my interns told me about an opportunity they had on becoming a teacher. I already was a part owner of a day care and I would work the daycare before going to work. I wanted to be a teacher bad but I did not know how to go about making it happen. The intern told me about a program that helps people change careers and I took a chance and now I have been teaching over 26 years.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences is when CNN came to my school and they choose my class to follow because as they were walking by they heard me teaching and children engaged in learning.

I am in the process of opening my own school at my church and this would benefit some students who may not be able to afford tuition. Also the first thing I will do is bless my classes and their parents who supported me in this. I feel like we are doing this together and at times they are watching the voting and numbers more than me.
