Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher when I realized that teaching is an art and it’s about helping others achieve academic as well as personal goals. I believe education is powerful. I thoroughly enjoy watching scholars embrace their growth and knowledge as they strive toward meeting success.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is when I was teaching a seventh grade urban school male student. He said that he couldn’t read. I met with this student daily, both in and out of school, albeit he ended the school year on a seventh reading level. The student was determined to make the progress necessary to meet the standards for the state tests. We became a “team”. This student graduated college and is currently working on his masters degree in business. A true success story!

What would you do with the $25,000?

When granted $25,000 I would travel to other continents and visit educational facilities. I would purchase supplies and books to help those less fortunate have the necessary materials to enhance their academic world. This will be a true win-win situation!
