Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference where it matters most—in the lives of young people. In Law & Public Safety/CTE, I get to mentor future officers, firefighters, and public servants, teaching them integrity, leadership, and responsibility. Watching students grow in confidence, character, and purpose is the greatest reward of all.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a quiet, unsure student find their confidence during a Law & Public Safety scenario exercise. As they stepped into a leadership role and guided their team calmly and professionally, I saw their self-belief take root. Moments like that—when students discover their strength and purpose—remind me why teaching truly matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 Teacher of the Year award, I would reinvest it into my Law & Public Safety program to give students real-world experiences and opportunities. I would purchase updated training equipment, support SkillsUSA leadership and competition travel, and provide certifications that prepare students for careers. I would also set aside funds to assist students in need so every learner has the chance to succeed and serve their community.
