Learn MoreI became a special education teacher because I’m passionate about helping students reach milestones that others might overlook. Having a family member on the autism spectrum showed me how life-changing the right support and advocacy can be. I love celebrating every step of progress with my students, whether it’s learning to communicate, gaining independence, or reading for the first time.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments was when a student who struggled with communication was finally able to express what they wanted using their AAC device. Moments like that are why I love teaching special education—helping students find their voice and celebrating milestones that open up their world.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 toward a down payment on my first home. Homeownership represents stability and the opportunity to build something lasting for my future. As someone dedicated to serving my community through education, having a place of my own would allow me to truly put down roots and create a space that feels like home.
