Learn MoreMy fifth grade teacher made learning so fun! Even when I struggled, he made the material easy to understand and brought joy into the assignments. I wanted to follow and bring the love of learning to every student. I wanted every student to feel seen and appreciated for who they are. My goal is for my students to feel successful and loved.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable moment was from a student who was diagnosed ADHD, OPP and on the spectrum from another class would run and try to escape school. One day he saw me and ran into my class to hide. I gave him a safe spot to sit and look at books. From that day he would come to me instead of his class. He ended up moving into my room and my students accepted him and showed him empathy. He made great progress and I became close with his mom. We still stay in touch six years later.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would definitely use some of the money to improve the learning environment for my students. Flexible seating options for students with sensory needs. There are several conferences that I've wanted to attend but couldn't due to funds. Of course I would spoil my husband and family for always supporting me and my classes.
