I love teaching (specifically science) because I love seeing feeding the curiosity and wonder in future generations.

Like most people who go into education, I had many teachers in my family. A love of learning was deeply embedded into me. That being said, I reached a point in my career where I had to step back and rethink the demandes that teaching put on me and my family. At the end of the day, I could not give up on the classroom and the ability to empower future generations. I love teaching science because it shows students how the world works. I like to think my kids leave my classroom emboldened.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience occurred when a student was able to decipher data, after weeks of practice, and write a five-paragraph essay on her findings. She was challenged but very proud of herself. It was a great process to watch.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25,000, I would like to put new materials into my science department that it desperately needs. All of the materials in our supply closet are old and outdated (being a rural district, it’s hard to replace). My kids deserve hands-on science, and I would love to facilitate that.
