Tell us why you became a teacher

I enjoyed teaching students piano that I decided I wanted to go into the field. I started as a general education teacher degree and then was blessed to be asked to teach music. I know that this is a different request but there is science in music and I love to share all aspects of education in my music room. I am a huge advocate for education and bettering others and finding what students love and help foster their growth. My kids love science and learning about how things are run.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It was over the span of a few weeks of learning. I was prepping my students for my first Christmas concert as a teacher. I picked some fun song for them, and I loved watching them practice their songs. At the end of the concert, I surprised everyone when, after we finished our song about pets destroying a Christmas tree that I knocked over a tree we had up and shocked everyone. The kids had so much fun with the songs and the tree falling and they still talk about it today with smiles.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use some of it to get some instruments that I have been wishing for and then I would plan a trip for our family so we could see NASA which is all my kids' dreams. We love to explore and learn about science, history and music and my husband and I encourage learning and would love to see their love of learning.
