Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to help young children, I originally wanted to become a pediatrician, however Chemistry was not my strong suit. As I went through the teaching program, I wanted to make a difference and pour into my students. This teaching journey over the last twenty years has ignited me even more to be the teacher I wish I had when in school. I am so encouraged to share the lessons I've learned on my emotional healing & growth with them, so they can make intentional choices

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience was when an alumni came back to find me four years later, as they are in a film program, she came back letting me know that a phrase I ended my class everyday with, "Walk in excellence, you are beloved", apparently played in her mind for years. She was intrigued to find out the rationale behind my saying. It was warming to know that there was that much of an impact and can't wait to see where it goes.

What would you do with the $25,000?

That would be a dream come true... I would begin scholarship for the top seven 7 graduating students in my school, as well as a snack fund for students. I would donate to Feed the Hungry company. I would publish my book and start my MEOW merchandise business. I would also invest, as I have been also growing in my financial literacy, which is another area I wish to increase my student's awareness and empowerment.
