I wanted to be my own version of Miss Frizzle and Ms. Honey, the kind of teacher who brings joy, curiosity, and heart into the classroom every day. I’ve always believed school should feel magical and safe at the same time. Becoming a teacher meant I could create that space and pour love, energy, and belief into every student I have the privilege to teach.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was with a student I was warned about before school started. He was labeled “difficult” and struggled with defiance and big emotions. I chose to learn who he was instead of believing the label. We built trust. At conferences, his mom told me he had never loved school before, but now he came home saying it was the best year of his life. That is why I teach.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would pour it straight back into my students and school. I would replace our outdated desks with flexible, welcoming furniture that supports collaboration and comfort. I would also fund schoolwide experiences like assemblies, field trips, or celebration days so every child feels excited to be here. School should be safe, joyful, and unforgettable. I would use every dollar to make that true!
