Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love being a part of chidren's learning experiences! There is a unique excitement in the classroom that you can't find anywhere else, fueled by the fun of exploring new ideas alongside students who are naturally eager to learn. I love seeing that "lightbulb moment" when a difficult concept finally clicks and witnessing their self-esteem soar as they master new skills.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was with a student with disabilities who had experienced a lot of trauma in his early years. He was defiant, oppositional, and refused to complete any work because it was so hard for him. I quickly discovered that the way to make a difference with him was through building a relationship of trust. We would have lasagna together for lunch as an incentive for completing his work. Today, he is an adult and still talks about our lunches together.

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25,000 would help me finally pay off my student loans. It would also help my family with childcare and expenses.
