Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a Special Ed teacher because I care about kids who learn in different ways. Every child deserves patience, support, and someone who believes in them. I love helping students grow in confidence, learn new skills, and feel proud of themselves. Seeing their progress, big or small, makes my work meaningful. I want to be a steady, kind support in their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was teaching an English Learner the ABCs in English. At first, the student was shy and unsure. We practiced every day with songs, pictures, and repetition. Towards the end of the year , the student built confidence and said the full alphabet on his own. Seeing his pride and growth reminded me how powerful patience, encouragement, and consistency can be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use it for my classroom. I would buy new learning supplies, sensory tools, and technology to help my students. I would also create a calm space with flexible seating and extra support for English Learners. My goal is to make sure every student feels supported, confident, and ready to learn.
