Tell us why you became a teacher

When I was a student in first grade I had difficulty with reading. A teacher took time to teach me by working with me on my level for two years. She made a difference. As I continued with my education I had awesome teachers that made a great impact on my academics in 5th, 6th 10th and my 12th grade year (four to be exact in my senior year). I decided then that I wanted to make a difference in young scholar’s lives like they did for me. Here I am 15 years in and making my own impact on the future

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moments occur when I see student’s growth in not only their academics but their self esteem as well. I have a prior student of mine tha I taught in 3rd grade (failed twice by the time I had her in my class). She soared in my class and continues to soar. She was doing so well in middle school they put her in her right graduating class. She emailed me this year asking would I be in attendance for graduation. I told her I will be right there cheering her on as she walks the stage.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I win the 25,000 I would use that money towards the purchase of my first home. I would like to be a homeowner one day and that money would surely help me get closer to my dream.
