Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to be the adult I once needed—someone who sees potential beyond challenges. My journey taught me the power of patience, advocacy, and belief. I chose education to ensure every child, especially those with diverse learning needs, feels valued, understood, and capable of success both inside and outside the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moments are when students who once struggled begin to believe in themselves. Watching a child go from frustration or shutdown to confidently reading, participating, or expressing emotions appropriately reminds me why I teach. Seeing growth academically, socially, and emotionally—and knowing I helped create that safe space—is unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest in classroom resources that support diverse learners, including sensory tools, adaptive technology, and hands-on materials that make learning accessible for all students. I would also support family engagement opportunities and continue my graduate education in early childhood and counseling to better serve students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
