Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to try and make a difference. I want to be able to help students both academically, and be apart of their journey in life. I remember the impacts of some of my favorite teachers, and I wanted to be that for the next generation.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Watching students start understanding material and then seeing them growing as a person. I had a student, who struggled all year, and was in and out of trouble. Towards the end of the year, and countless conversations, I finally got through to the student, the material instantly clicked, and even though it’s been two years since I had this student, they continue to grow and expand in life and in academics.

What would you do with the $25,000?

It would greatly impact the life of my students, as well as myself. I give so much to my students to ensure they have snacks and food, for those that are constantly hungry. Sometimes, it’s not much, maybe a peanut butter sandwich, sometimes I have full on snacks that are gone in two days. I would be able to get more and hopefully keep my supply stocked until the end of the year.
