Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because, even as a little girl, I believed teachers were placed in our lives for a reason. I was always the one helping classmates, translating for students new to English, and learning alongside them. I felt called to serve in that way. Since kindergarten, I have carried a deep admiration for educators and now strive to create a classroom rooted in compassion, inclusion, and faith—where every child feels seen, valued, and reminded that their potential is limitless.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been in special education, stepping into a world I had never known. Every routine I built, every goal we set, and every IEP I supported became a chance to witness courage, growth, and small victories. Connecting with students and their families showed me the true heart of teaching: learning together, celebrating each milestone, and creating a classroom where every child feels seen, valued, and capable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would continue my master’s, turning late nights of studying while my baby sleeps into a dream realized. After 13 years of college, SPED experience, and bilingual credential work, this support would help me rise, shaping the next generation of teachers. I envision classrooms filled with curiosity, growth, and inclusion—where I can guide others as I once was guided, and pass on the joy of learning.
