Truly a God calling. I began my career in advertising. After 911,I was compelled to stay at home with my 4 yr old daughter. As she began school, I volunteered at her school. The more involvement, the more God put it on my heart to teach. We moved to San Antonio and I worked the front desk at her school. My assistant principal, at the end of the school year, pulled me in her office and said"You NEED to be a teacher. I went thru alt certification, became a Sped teacher, and now teach 4th gr math

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I was a Sped teacher and a taught two students who were "wheel chair bound" to walk all the way to the gym and back...sometimes PE was over by the time we got there, but we did it! Also I built a sensory garden with donations from a local boy scout troop who built my fence, from the local hardware store who donated, pea gravel and walking stones. The 7th grade sponsored a dance and all the proceeds went to donating two swings with awnings for the kids to swing. The garden is still there!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would replace the furniture in my room that has outlived it's life. I have flexible seating (it's what's best for kids learning) and some pieces are walking dead. lol. I would love new clipboards and dry erase boards as we use these daily in math and with the flexible seating it's required for learning. Some new pillows for my low table and a new high chair for the bar since the current chair is falling apart, and kids tell me it pokes them. And I can never have enough Flair pens :)
