Tell us why you became a teacher

Since I was a child, I knew my place was in the classroom. I became a teacher because I believe education is the most powerful tool to transform lives. My goal is to be a guide who not only shares knowledge but also fosters confidence and curiosity. After 14 years, I remain convinced that inspiring students to discover their own potential is the most rewarding job there is. It is a dream come true to witness their growth and be part of their journey every single day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My proudest moment was supporting a student struggling with frustration. Beyond academic growth, it was moving to see her learn to understand and manage her emotions. By working hand-in-hand with her family, we built a support system that allowed her to find herself and gain confidence. Seeing her transform anxiety into emotional self-management reminded me that our work is holistic: we nurture hearts so that minds can shine freely. It was a true lesson in resilience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest this award in the safety and well-being of my students by funding the installation of doors in classrooms that lack them, providing the security they need to focus on learning. Furthermore, I would donate a portion to the under-resourced school in my home country that gave me my first professional opportunity. It is my turn to give back to those who believed in me, supporting the next generation of students and teachers where it is needed most.
