Tell us why you became a teacher

I became an Ag Teacher because I believe agriculture education gives students experiences they can’t get anywhere else. Agriculture teaches hands-on skills, critical thinking, and leadership that prepare students for any career path. I wanted to be someone who could guide, encourage, and inspire students while sharing the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives. As an Ag Teacher, I have the privilege of helping students grow not only academically, but also personally.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was seeing students step outside their comfort zones through leadership and agricultural activities. I watched students who once doubted themselves stand up, speak in front of others, and take pride in their accomplishments. Seeing their growth—from nervous beginners to confident leaders was incredibly meaningful. Moments like that remind me that being an Ag Teacher is about guiding students, encouraging them, and helping them realize their potential

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would invest it directly into expanding opportunities for my agriculture students through hands-on learning. A portion of the funds would go toward improving classroom and laboratory resources so students can gain practical experience with modern agricultural practices. I would also use funding to support student agricultural projects, allowing more students to participate regardless of financial barriers. Additionally, I would invest in equipment and materials.
