I love teaching Science to my middle schoolers. Nothing fills my heart more than seeing that “aha” moment when students understand a concept

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe the classroom is where confidence is built long before careers are chosen. I didn’t choose teaching just to explain lessons — I chose it to help students discover what they’re capable of. I wanted to be that steady voice that says, “You can do this,” especially on the days when it feels hard.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment over the years has always been seeing a student finally understand a concept they once struggled with. Being part of that “aha” moment is incredibly rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I was lucky enough to win the money, I would first invest some of it in my classroom. I come from a very low income area, and my students can benefit from for many supplies, both for schoolwork, and for science lab equipment. . I would also use some of that money to help some of my fellow teachers in my Science Department. Lastly the remainder I would spend onsome quality time with my family. We all know that a teacher salary only goes so far and being able to have this award would be awesome
