Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love being part of who my students are becoming. It’s more than lessons and grades,it’s helping them believe in themselves, celebrating their wins, and guiding them through challenges. There’s nothing better than seeing a student light up when something finally clicks or when they feel truly seen and supported.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moments aren’t tied to just one experience. One student came to me for advice about asking their crush to the Valentine’s Day dance, and later asked for help finding the courage to dance with them. I felt honored they trusted me. Another moment was comforting a student overwhelmed with frustration. After listening and offering encouragement, she asked for a hug. It reminded me students sometimes need more than a teacher, they need someone who truly cares.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would use a portion of it toward our wedding, as I recently got engaged to another teacher at my school. I would also put some toward paying down bills to create a stronger financial foundation for us. Finally, I would use part of it to enjoy summer vacation or a possible honeymoon, giving us time to recharge together before stepping into a new school year refreshed and ready to give our best to our students.
