Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want to be the foundation of support that many students may not have. Letting my students know that they have someone rooting for them through the good and bad times and there to pick them up and dust them off. Teaching is more than standards it’s a passion for helping students see their full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience is during my gap year where I taught preschool and one of my students asked why magnetic trains pushed each other away and I explained how magnets worked thinking he wouldn’t remember because he was 4 but he went home and explained it to his parents without hesitation and that experience showed me that I am able to make an impact in all ages.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the $25,000 as a first year teacher I would be able to give my students the resources that they deserve. Purchase books for my ELA classroom that I have not been able to do as well as fund a early literacy program for multilingual students and their parents to come and learn the language and connection to standards they will learn in school so that parents are able to help their students at home.
