I became a teacher not for my musical talent but because one 5th grade teacher did not give up on me. I was the shy new girl in town running from a communist country for a better life. The language barrier did not stop me all because one teacher believed in me. Next thing you know is finding myself winning the spelling B.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student from India that had just arrived with a a broken English. She was scared and nervous on her first day in My classroom. So I decided to ask her to share her culture to the class and to bring something special from her country. Next thing you know she brought her entire family to meet me and along a traditional instrument for show and tell. Wow! That broke her for success. At the end, the family invited me to a Bangledash wedding. It was absolutely beautiful.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would go back to college to complete 4 classes to esrn a Music therapy degree and work with the growing ASD , spectrum, Autistic, ADHD and high/low functioning kids. Besides that I would purchase instrument, manipulative hands on materials.
