Tell us why you became a teacher

When I was younger, I often played “teacher” with my cousins at home. As I grew older and progressed through school, I discovered a genuine passion for learning and a desire to share it with others. Although I once doubted my ability to become a teacher, substitute teaching changed that. Each day in the classroom left me eager to return, confirming that I wanted to share my love for learning year-round.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During my seven years of teaching, I have worked with many classes and students, each bringing unique personalities to the classroom. The 2024–2025 school year left the greatest impression on me. Those students not only rose to every challenge I set before them, but eagerly asked for more. I remain in contact with many of their families and am proud to see my former students continuing to achieve honor roll.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I really want to say, I would go on a vacation, or pay off student loans. The truth of what I would do with the prize money is the following: 1. Classroom make over! I am part of a founding team, so we need all the help and supplies. 2. Plan a end of the year party for my students. 3. Ok, maybe I would treat myself to some nice skin care.
