I love teaching because I get to spark curiosity, build critical thinkers, and help students grow into confident versions of themselves!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I felt that many of our nation's children were losing perspective on just how important their education was. I wanted to show them that school wasn't only about math, science, and social studies but also about important life and social skills that they will need in order to be excellent members of society.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was being able to catch up with a precious student who had graduated. They told me that had it not been for my classes and constant encouragement to learn new skills outside of school, whether that be in college or a trade school, that they would have never pushed themselves to get a welding job that they now work at. It was "getting my paycheck" as a teacher knowing that at least 1 student I had served had become their version of successful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I really am not too sure what I might do with that kind of money. $25,000 is more money than I have ever had at one time. My top options would be to put a down payment for a home for me and my wife, put it into a savings account for when my wife and I have children, or donate some amount to the school I teach at; maybe to the boys swim team I coach or to give back to the other educators who have supported me.
