Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of a teacher who changed my life when I was a child. She saw potential in me before I fully saw it in myself. She made learning exciting, created a space where I felt valued, and showed me what it meant to lead with both high expectations and genuine care. Her impact stuck with me long after I left her classroom. I realized that if one teacher could make that kind of difference in my life, I wanted to be that person for someone else.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Although I am in my first year of teaching, I already have countless memories I will hold onto. Every day brings something new—small wins, big breakthroughs, funny moments, and powerful conversations. The most memorable moment so far was the first time a student told me that I made learning fun and that they were excited to come to school. It may seem simple, but hearing that affirmed exactly why I chose this profession. Knowing that I can help shape how students feel about learning is amazing!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would invest it into my classroom, school community, and professional growth. I would enhance my classroom with updated materials, flexible seating, and resources that support diverse learners. I would collaborate with colleagues to introduce enrichment opportunities that directly benefit students. I would also dedicate funds toward professional development—trainings and continued education to strengthen my practice.
