Tell us why you became a teacher

I feel like I was trained to become a teacher from an early age. Since I was in elementary school, my teachers always paired me with other peers who needed assistance. Going through school, I knew I wanted to do something with kids and thought I might become a music teacher like my sister. In the end, it was my nephew who was diagnosed with autism that sealed the deal for me becoming an elementary special education teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My memorable teaching experiences come afterward. I have a few students who will get back in touch with me years later and it is always what they remember or are thankful for that reminds me why I am doing this and what it is really worth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some debt, get some things for my classroom, and take a mini vacation with my kids.
