Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable of success. Growing up, I saw how powerful encouragement and creativity could be in helping someone find their voice. As an art teacher, I want my students to know their ideas matter and that they have a place in the world. My goal is to inspire confidence, curiosity, and kindness so they carry that belief in themselves long after they leave my classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable moment in my teaching career is helping students who had lost hope in school and felt like no one believed in them. Many lacked support at home and carried that weight every day. Being a steady, caring presence they could rely on helped them begin to believe in themselves again. Watching their confidence grow and hearing some say they want to become teachers too reminds me that believing in a child can change the course of their life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000 as a teacher, I would use it to create an inspiring art space for my students. I would purchase adaptive art tools, sensory-friendly materials, and supplies so every student can express themselves creatively. I would also create opportunities for collaborative murals and student art displays so their work can be celebrated. My goal is to give students a space where they feel inspired, confident, and proud of their creativity
