Tell us why you became a teacher

I was always told that getting you into teaching for content is a mistake, but I strongly disagree with that. I believe that my passion for history is precisely what makes me a sufficient teacher. The fact that I get to talk about History, every day is awesome. I get to inspire that passion in others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I’m currently teaching in a small rural, school in Illinois. I’m very much enjoying getting to know my students, but we did a project on Egyptian pharaohs. Each student had to pick an Egyptian pharaoh that we discussed or a one that we did not and present them in like an art gallery style way. It was a very fun research project and I got to see how a lot of creative minds worked.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I will buy a lot of History curriculum based things and I would also donate some of it to the school because we are a poor district. I would also ask the other History teacher on some things that we could maybe collaborate on and use that money to help with that as well. There was also some field trips do that have to do with Illinois History that would I would use this money for.
