Nick Carlson

I love teaching social studies because it helps students understand the world, think critically, and see how the past shapes our future.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because education was always a big part of my life- both of my parents were teachers, and I saw the impact they had on their students. I’ve always loved history and the stories that shape our world. Teaching lets me share that passion while building meaningful connections with students and helping them grow.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moment was bridging the gap between centuries by hosting the Sons of the American Revolution. By introducing authentic artifacts, I transformed my classroom into a living museum. Students moved behind memorization to perform high level analysis of physical history, examining the grueling realities of 18th century life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would be able to pay off my student loans and finally feel financially free.
