Tell us why you became a teacher

Teaching gives me purpose and I wanted to make sure I had a part in the new generations success and growth. Becoming a teacher helped grow my understanding of what it’s like being a child in this society. My heart gets filled when i can have a hand in leading, guiding and inspiring children in under privileged, diverse and inclusive communities.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience, is when you see students reaching their goals and growing. My favorite memory is seeing my first middle school class graduate and go to high school. I got to see them grow mentally and physically. Seeing them warmed my heart and hearing some accomplished their goals let me know I had something to do with that.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the 25,000; For my community I would donate some of the money to an organization called The Door Leadership in Baltimore, MD so they can bring back the youth program, mentorship, and summer camp. In my classroom id like to gift my students more trips! As a single mother I’d pay myself by paying off student loan debts and finally start a saving fund for my child so when she’s at a certain age she has the option to go to further education and get a head start at life.
